How do i find blackreach in skyrim
Aside from being the location of one of the Elder Scrolls for the main questline, there are a few other things that you should be doing in Blackreach before you leave, not least of which is exploring the cavern as much as possible.
With an entirely unique ecosystem that isn't seen in any other location in Skyrim, and which looks like it belongs in Morrowind more than anywhere else, it's hard to forget any part of what Blackreach has to offer. It is a dungeon that you can very easily spend hours wandering around inside of.
Before entering the main cavern of Blackreach, you will have to contend with multiple Dwarven Spiders and Spheres alongside a couple of Centurions. Like most other Dwemer ruins, there are also many Falmer lurking inside the dungeon that can prove to be problematic for unprepared explorers, as they can very easily overwhelm you with sheer numbers, if not the various poisons and magic they like to use.
Once inside Blackreach, you will have more room to fight, but also more enemies to contend with, including even more Dwarven Centurions that are just waiting to be activated. Thankfully, the Centurions are inactive until you either pull the lever on their frame or attack them first, making them a little easier than most other Centurions to deal with. In the center of Blackreach, there is a Debate Hall with a large, orange orb hanging above it that not only holds multiple Falmer but also Falmer Servants, people unfortunate enough to have become trapped inside Blackreach at one point or another and forced to work for the Falmer.
This orb overhanging the Debate Hall is also the source of a boss fight against a dragon, Vulthuryol, which is a fairly average fight all things considered. The main difference between Vulthuryol and other dragons is that they won't fly around to avoid your attacks, preferring to crawl around on the ground and launch Fire Breath shouts instead. This fight can be instigated by using the Unrelenting Force Shout on the orb itself, which will cause it to make a gong sound before summoning the dragon.
The entrances related to Mzinchaleft are north of the city, namely the door to Mzinchaleft Gatehouse in the northwestern corner of the cavern and the Great Lift at Mzinchaleft. Two other buildings are also found along the northern wall of the cavern:. The southern part of Blackreach is dominated by waterfalls plunging into a lake far below the rest of Blackreach.
The Tower of Mzark is on a spire to the southwest. Three other buildings are scattered around the edges of the lake:. Once you enter Blackreach, there are several different exits from Blackreach to Skyrim. Events Characters Factions Locations Concepts. Explore Wikis Community Central. Register Don't have an account? As you adventure below Blackreach, though, you will discover 4 additional entrances via elevators back up to the surface.
These supplemental entrances are initially barred with a gate, and therefore inaccessible before you've started spelunking. While several of these locations are fast-travelable-to, the Tower of Mzark is likely to be the quickest way into Blackreach, as it's associated "wing" is quite small, with no enemies. By contrast, the Great Lifts, like Alftand, or Mzinchaleft, still have goodly portions of dwemer dungeon ruin between their elevator and blackreach proper, which will replenish their enemies and loot over time.
Since Mzark doesn't have enemies to begin with, it will always be enemy free. Alftand isn't the only way in. You can access Blackreach via Alftand, Mzinchaleft or Raldbthar. At the bottom of each Dwemer ruin is the same access mechanism that lowers the stairs to a door that leads to Blackreach, all you need is the Attunement Sphere from Septimus Signus. The quest "Transcending the Transmundane" places a quest marker at Alftand, but you may choose to ignore that and descend another way.
In my experience, Alftand is the longest path down, and Raldbthar is the shortest. However, Alftand is definitely the most rewarding because it's more interesting than the other two ruins. After you initially access Blackreach, you can exit via the three great lifts Alftand, Mzinchaleft and Raldbthar that open up very close to their respective ruins. These are the fastest ways back in, but you can't go down to Blackreach through them until you come up and open the gate that only opens from the inside.
There's also the Tower of Mzark lift, but it requires you to go through a short passage instead of leading straight to Blackreach.
