No idea, I had it home for about a month. Bedding used? CareFresh Ultra White 4. What kind of food do you feed? I read the igredients for all the food I gave him and none of them contained sugar or glucose except for the pet store treats, so I stopped giving him those right away. What type of cage are they in? How often do you clean the cage and how? Once a week. I empty out the dirty bedding and wipe the bottom pan with cage cleaner bought from the pet store, it says it's non-toxic.
Then I wipe the wheel and deck and any surface that appears dirty. Lastly, I put in new CareFresh bedding. Any odd or unsusual odors? Not at all 9.
What symptoms are they showing? Nothing unusual that I could detect the night before he died. The morning that he died, I noticed he was sleeping unusually long he was awake almost constantly and only took naps. His breathing was slow, but I thought perhaps he was in deep sleep.
He stayed sleeping and breathing slowly until late afternoon, when I noticed he turned on his side and stopped breathing.
I don't think these are symptoms, but he's always had the habit of standing up on his hind legs, sniffing around, then falling over backwards. Also, he'd stumble around kind of like a drunk when he'd just woken up. He was a climber like many other hamsters - he would hang from the bars at the top of his cage, then fall down when he couldn't hang on anymore.
Then he'd get back up and climb and fall again. Do you feed fresh foods lettuce, carrots, etc? How often? When are they removed from the cage?
He would finish eating that right away. Have you added anything new to the hamster's cage? The curve goes horizontally and the middle is connected by something that looks like a Habitrail Tee Connector, but has a flat bottom.
